SOC 2 is a set of standards recognized by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) that help organisations ensure that their internal controls are adequately designed and operating effectively to protect customer data.
After achieving the SOC 2 type 1 certification in 2021, Proxymity’s Cybersecurity and Technology teams proceeded with the next step in demonstrating the company’s commitment towards privacy, compliance, security, availability, processing integrity and confidentiality by preparing our platform and business process to achieve the more rigorous SOC 2 type 2 certification.
Organisations that are subject to SOC 2 Type 2 audits typically host or manage sensitive data on behalf of their customers and, as such, must adhere to strict security and privacy controls to protect this data.
SOC 2 Type 2 audits are conducted by third-party auditors (in our case, EY), and provide assurance to customers that the service organisation has the appropriate controls in place to protect their information. The auditor will review the service organisation’s controls and issue an independent report with their findings. SOC 2 Type 2 reports are not intended to be a one-time exercise; organisations must commit to audits conducted on a yearly basis to ensure that they remain effective and ensure a continuous level of data compliance to all the parties involved in the ecosystem.
Proxymity’s proxy voting platform, Vote Connect, has been approved for use by the world’s major banks and is now serving over 25 markets, delivering a continuous “golden source” record reconciled throughout, revolutionising traditional paper-based processes with digital transparency, efficiency and accuracy.
